Our mission is being accomplished when we:
- GATHER together frequently in worship and fellowship.
- GROW together in the life-giving Word of God.
- GO together into the world, sharing the Hope that has saved us.
Our vision is to be an active church family that has a passion for sharing Jesus' love with more and more people in Spearfish, the surrounding towns, and throughout the world. All the while, we will pursue excellence in everything we do to God's glory.
Hope is a Christian church with roots in the Lutheran tradition. We hold the three ecumenical creeds and the Lutheran Confessions to be faithful expressions of God's truth revealed to us in the Bible. Hope is affiliated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.
Our pastor is Mark Schutz. Mark grew up in Menomonie, Wisconsin. He received his bachelor's degree from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota, in 2003. He went on to study at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wisconsin, where he graduated in 2007. As a part of his seminary training, Mark served a mission congregation in Summerville, South Carolina, for one year. In July of 2007, Mark became the pastor of Hope. Mark has been married to his wife Jill since 2004. They have two daughters, Lydia and Natalie, and a son Jonathan.
